FAQ
What makes it New Orleans style?
A snoball is a New Orleans confection made with finely shaved ice and flavored cane sugar syrup. Commonly confused with snow cone, the ice of a snoball is fine and fluffy; while a snow cone’s ice is typically coarse, crunchy and granular. The birth of the New Orleans “Snoball” evolved from the invention of the SnoWizard SnoBall Machine in 1936, the only one Zydeco Ice uses in their shop. In addition, Zydeco Ice only uses flavors developed by SnoWizard, a company based out of New Orleans. All the flavors are developed in-house at SnoWizard by the nephew of the inventor of the SnoWizard SnoBall Machine who also bought the company from his uncle in 1981.

How did you come up with the name Zydeco Ice?
Zydeco is a music genre that evolved in southwest Louisiana which blends rhythm and blues and music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles and the Native people of Louisiana. Zydeco music was originally created at house dances where families and friends gathered for socializing.
